Terms For Makers

What you can count on from Find Me, and what Find Me counts on from you.

Who We Are

Find Me (ABN 40 366 975 511) is at findme.gallery. Opening a studio means you agree to these terms. Every sale is between you and the person who chooses your piece. Find Me brings you together, takes the payment, and holds it until you have handed the piece over or sent it.

Opening A Studio

Anyone who makes can open a studio, at 18 or over, or at 16 or 17 with a parent or guardian who accepts these terms alongside you.

When you open a studio you confirm that the work you show is your own, and that you are entitled to sell it. Find Me relies on that confirmation and does not inspect or certify anyone’s work or workshop.

Before any money reaches you, Stripe confirms your identity and your bank account. Until then, your pieces are visible only to you.

Your sign-in is yours to keep private, and what happens under your account is yours to answer for. You can change your details from your account whenever you like.

What It Costs, And What You Receive

Opening a studio is free, and there is no monthly fee.

When a piece sells, Find Me keeps 10% of its price and the rest is yours. Postage comes to you in full. The buyer pays the card fee on top at checkout, so it never comes out of what you receive.

Being Paid

A buyer pays on Find Me’s own pages, through Stripe. The payment is held until you tell us the piece has been collected or sent. It is then released to the bank account you have nominated with Stripe, and usually reaches your bank within a few business days.

Every sale is paid through Find Me, never by bank transfer, cash or any other channel. That is what lets Find Me help when something goes wrong, and gives you a clear record of your income. Writing to a buyer about a piece is welcome: the letter that tells you about an order gives you their email.

Ready To Go, Or Made For The Person Who Asks

A made-to-order piece is paid in two parts: half when the buyer asks for it, and the rest when you say it is ready.

You write your own cancellation terms on each piece, as set out in Refunds And Returns below.

Posting And Collecting

Each piece says how it reaches its buyer: posted anywhere in Australia, collected from you, or either. Postage is shown before the buyer pays. Anything Australia Post will not carry is collected.

What You Look After

You are an independent business, not an employee or agent of Find Me.

Refunds And Returns

Buyers read these same words from their side, so you and they stand on the same page.

A piece that is ready to go. The buyer is refunded in full if they cancel before you have sent it or handed it over. After that, you may accept a return for change of mind, on the terms you set out on the piece.

A piece made for the person who asks. A buyer who cancels with at least seven days’ notice before you begin is refunded in full. After you have begun, a refund is at your discretion.

A piece made to a buyer’s measurements, engraved, or made for them in any other personal way cannot be returned for change of mind.

If you cancel, the buyer is refunded in full.

If a piece is not as described, is not of acceptable quality, is not fit for its purpose, or is unsafe, the buyer is covered by the Australian Consumer Law at any time, whatever the terms above. The remedy may be a repair, a replacement or a refund. Buyers are asked to write to you first, and most things are settled there. If you cannot reach an answer, Find Me will help.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

How We Write To Each Other

Find Me is a place where people write to one another with care. We expect it of everyone here: makers professional and kind with buyers, and buyers respectful and kind with makers, who are people running their own studios.

When Something Is Not Right

Find Me tells an honest mistake from a verified complaint. Verified complaints are recorded. If they are repeated or serious, a studio may be paused or closed, always after you have had the chance to respond.

Your Work Is Yours

You own your work, your photographs and your words, and give Find Me a licence to show them in the gallery. The Find Me name, logo and design belong to Find Me.

Where Find Me’s Responsibility Ends

Find Me is not a party to the sale between you and a buyer, and does not guarantee any piece. As far as the law allows, Find Me’s liability for any claim is limited to what Find Me kept from the sale concerned. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law stay whole.

If a claim arises from your work, your conduct or a breach of these terms, you agree to cover Find Me for it, as far as the law allows.

Privacy

The Find Me Privacy policy is part of these terms.

Changes, Closing, And Law

When these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or on the site. You can close your account whenever you like. Find Me may pause or close an account for a breach of these terms or of the law.

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria.
